The City of Vero Beach is politically a subdivision of the State of Florida. In 1919 the city was incorporated as the city of Vero. Later in 1925, it was reincorporated as the city of Vero Beach. From St. Lucie County it was shifted to Indian River County. It is located about 135 miles north of Miami and 190 miles south of Jacksonville. It covers an area of 13.1 square miles. Its current population is estimated as 18,160. The city contained 94.18% Whites, 2.29% African American and the rest of various races of minority. It is a city containing all the service areas, such as public works, police and recreation. Moreover the city has an electric generation plant, water and sewer plants, waste collection department, electrical distribution system, marina and airport. It is a beautiful coastal town in Florida. The city is located in a climatic transition zone. It is also called as the “Citrus Capital of the World”, producing the best Indian River Citrus for the local and export market. Vero Beach Inn, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and First Covenant Church are a few of the notable attractions. The city has a tropical climate.
