Winter Garden is a city in Florida, located 14 miles away to the west of downtown Orlando in Western Orange County. Winter Garden is surrounded by Windermere town on its south, Ocoee city on the east, Oakland town on the west and in the north by Lake Apopka. It has a population of 14,351 people according to the 2000 census. The ethnic mix up consist of 76.60%25 Whites, 13.25%25 African American and the rest are minor communities. Around 10.1%25 of families and 12.0%25 of the population live in very poor conditions. Winter Garden downtown contains a number of specialty restaurants, gift shops and cafes, several museums, a hotel, boutiques and a theater.Winter Garden has a number of attractions. Winter Garden Heritage museum, Garden Theater and West Orange Trail are a few popular points that draw the tourists. The city has a humid subtropical climate and has two major seasons every year. The hot and rainy season lasts between May and October while the cooler season ranges between November and March, with little rainfall.
