Americus can be referred to as one of the cities located in ‘Sumter County, Georgia, US’. It’s, in reality, a home to ‘Habitat for Humanity International’s’ international HQ, the reputable Windsor Hotel (right from the year 1892), The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving, international HQ of Fuller Center for Housing, and several other well-known organizations.
This city is Sumter County’s county seat. It’s also one of the principal cities of ‘Americus Metropolitan Statistical Area’, i.e. a ‘metropolitan area’ covering Schley as well as Sumter Counties. As per US Census Bureau, area of Americus is 27.7 sq. Km; out of which 0.5 sq. Km is water.
In the summer season, climate of Americus is around 70 degree F; whereas in winters it is around 40 degree F. July is the hottest month over here. The precipitation on an average is around 49.08 inches. It’s advisable to visit Americus during the summer season. The population as per 2000 census was 17013.
