Zoo Atlanta is a zoological park located in Atlanta, Georgia and founded in 1889. The Zoo is one of the oldest cultural zoological parks in the United States.
It has more than 1300 animals representing more than 220 species, some of which include gorillas, orangutans, black bear, a jaguar, a hyena, an elk, a Mexican hog, a raccoon, lions, monkeys, camels, pumas and snakes .The zoo is famous for giant pandas and is one of the four zoos in the United Sates.
In 1889, businessman George V.Gress had purchased traveling circus and donated the animals to the city of Atlanta. The zoo was privatized in 1985 with a creation of a nonprofit organization.
