Named after Col Farrish Carter, the area now known as Cartersville was first a small hamlet called Birmingham. First incorporated in 1850, the city prospered after the railroad was introduced. The scenic beauty combined with a rich history and pleasant climate gives the city a distinct identity and plays an important role in the city’s economy.
