The Springer Opera House is a historic live performance theater situated in Downtown Columbus in Georgia. This theater opened in 1871, and was named the State Theatre of Georgia by Governor, Jimmy Carter. Its architect was Foley, Daniel Mathew and its architectural style was late Victorian. Till date, the theater has hosted many legendary performers like Ethel Barrymore, and Edwin Booth. This historic building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1978.
