Fort Frederica National Monument executes the task of preserving archaeological remnants with regards to town and town constructed by James Oglethorpe from 1736 to 1748 with the objective of protecting British colony’s southern boundary from ‘Spanish’ raids. The name ‘Frederica’ has been given after Frederick, i.e. Prince of Wales.
