Official motto is ‘A conurbation of schools, homes, and ‘places of worship’. The origin of Decatur can be traced to the year 1823 when 2 Native American ‘trails’ had got intersected. The name ‘Decatur’ has been derived from ‘Stephen Decatur’, a naval hero. Early roads had been named in a logical manner. However, the renaming took place in an inquisitive manner.
