Tourist Guide McDonough
The County seat of Henry County nicknamed “The Mother of Counties” is the city of McDonough in Georgia with an estimated population of 13208 residents as per the 2007 census. It was established in the year 1823. This charming city with its small town charm is located 25 miles from Atlanta and is spread over 7.8 square miles at an elevation of 863 feet.
The city was originally inhabited by the Creek Indian Nation who engaged in agriculture and farming. The village was then named after the Commodore Thomas McDonough.
There are loads of recreational facilities offered in McDonough like parks, historic sites, theatres and hunting grounds and sporting facilities like baseball and soccer fields, walking and jogging tracks. The city also hosts an annual Germanium festival, a one day festival showcasing the locally grown flowers. It is also marked by open air markets and musical performances.
