Saint Simons Lighthouse
Saint Simons Lighthouse stands 25 feet from its original site. The year 1872 marked the year of its completion. The main objective behind its construction was to have replaced Lighthouse of James Gould that had been destroyed in the year 1862 by Confederate Army. The present structure is constructed by ‘Charles Cluskey’, one amongst the most reputable architects of Georgia. It’s a white-colored conical tower that has been attached to one of the brick dwellings. The little house was light keeper’s cottage one upon a time. The chains and oil lamps, however, were replaced by timers and Fresnel lens in the year 1953, thereby eliminating requirement of a keeper.
Avenue of Oaks
‘Avenue of Oaks’ was planted by Anne Page King. It goes on to highlight entrance to ‘Sea Island Golf Club’. It is situated on ‘Frederica Road’.
