Thomaston is a city in and also the county seat of Upson County in Georgia in United States. It is also the principal city of and is included in the Thomaston, which is the Georgia Micropolitan Statistical Area.

At first, Thomaston was incorporated in the year 1825 and was designated as the seat of Upson County.

As per the 2006 census, the population of the city was 9,638. However, as per the 2000 census, there were 9,411 people.

The climate of this city is warm during the summer when the temperature tends to be 70 degree Fahrenheit and cold during the winter with temperature scoring to 40 degree Fahrenheit.  The warmest month of the year is July, with an average maximum temperature of 89.70 degrees Fahrenheit and the coldest month of the year is January with an average minimum temperature of 30.90 degrees Fahrenheit.
