The Traveler’s Rest is a stagecoach inn and also a plantation house, built in 1815. This house was built by James R Wylie, who operated the inn until the 1830s. He sold this house to Devereaux Jarrett, who was the richest man in the Tugaloo Valley. The Jarrett family inhabited the site until the 1950s and later on it was purchased by the State of Georgia. There are unique and well preserved architecture and this site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.
