Valdosta is the county seat of Lowndes County in Georgia, USA. Spread over an area of 78.4 sq km, the city has a flat landscape as it is located on a coastal plain.
Valdosta has a very warm climate. The average temperature in summer is around 30°C, while that in winter is around 10°C. Snowfall is a rare occurrence, and spring is the most pleasant season in the city.
Incorporated in 1860, the city was established after the citizens of the town of Troupville moved closer to the Gulf and Atlantic Railroad. Known as the ‘Azalea City’, the flower grows abundantly and can be found in parks, streets and antebellum houses.
The climate facilitates agriculture which is a booming industry and the backbone of the economy. With a population of around 48,000, Valdosta has grown into a vibrant city while maintaining its southern charm.Explore map
