Warner Robins is the 7th largest city in the state of Georgia that shares the area with two counties; the lager portion is in Houston County and the smaller is in Peach County. The city is located in its own metropolitan area known as Warner Robins Metropolitan Area.Geographically the city is located at 32 36’ 31” north and 83 38’17” west. The city has a total area of 22.9 square miles which consists of about 0.1 sq miles of water with rest being covered with land. The city rises about 305 feet above sea level.The city supports a population of 48,804 people with 19,550 households and 13,078 families residing in the city. The majority of the city’s population belongs to the White origin (62.50%25) with Afro American origin contributing about 32.09%25 and a small percentage of population belonging to mixed origin.The city originally, known as York, was not more than a small train stop for the farmers. During World War II it was made an army base and renamed after brigadier general Augustine Warner Robins.
