There are several attractions in store for visitors to the Grand Canyon. The hiking trail on the South Rim is ideal for day trips. There is also the option of going backpacking in the night, a novel experience in itself. For the less adventurous but equally enthusiastic, the Grand Canyon offers the Desert View Drive (tour by commercial bus) and the Hermit Road (tour on a free shuttle bus).
The Grand Canyon National Park is home to several visitor centres. The South Rim has the Canyon View Information Plaza that has outdoor exhibits to offer. The visitors can learn about the life of Pueblo Indians in the Grand Canyon, by paying a visit to the Tusayan Museum.
The Northern Rim Visitor Center provides detail on the Grand Canyon, maps, brochures, exhibits and a bookstore.
Sights not to be missed in the region include the breathtaking view from the Toroweap Overlook, 3,000 vertical feet above the Colorado River, and the renowned Lava Field Rapids.
