Situated in Maui County in Hawaii, USA, Hana is located at the eastern end of the Maui Island. It covers an area of 9 sq km and has a population of around 2,000.
Hana has a subtropical climate because of the moderating effect of the ocean. The summer temperatures seldom cross 27°C, while in winter the temperatures rarely fall below 16°C.
Hana was once the seat of power for East Maui. It later grew into a centre for the sugar industry. After the closure of the sugar mills, Paul Fagan built a hotel to attract tourists to the town and boost its economy.
The town of Hana is isolated from the rest of the island. The town is lined with cliffs overlooking the rugged coastline. Dotted with pools fed by the waterfalls, the town boasts of the most beautiful beaches made up of white, black and red sand.
