Bishop Museum or the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum is a history and science museum situated in Honolulu. Home to some of the largest collections of Polynesian culture and scientific artifacts in the world, it was founded in 1889 and is known as the largest museum in Hawaii.
The museum has an extensive entomological collection of more than 13.5 million specimens, being the third largest collection museums in the United States. This museum is known for its cultural collections, consulting services, research projects and public educational programs.
The museum collections have been the source of many publications that describe thousands of species that were newly discovered to science.
