The Honolulu Watershed Forest Reserve is a must-see for any visitor to Honolulu.  600 square miles of lush tropical Hawaiian forest and two major hiking trails invite both nature-lovers and active tourists to this spot.

The two major trails visitors can hike are the Manoa Falls Trail and the Aihualama Trail.  The Manoa Falls Trail winds alongside a creek until lit reaches the gorgeous 100-foot drop of Manoa Falls.  The pool at the base of the falls has been roped off due to rock slides, but visitors can still admire the general beauty of the sight.  This trail is 1.5 miles long and can be accomplished by most fit visitors and hikers.

The Aihualama Trail is rather more difficult; it is an uphill hike over a distance of 2.6 miles.  Hikers should watch for muddy conditions if it has rained recently.  This trail winds through a bamboo forest and culminates at the top of a ridge.  The exhaustion is worth it simply for the view at the end of Upper Manoa Valley at the end of the trail.

For those seeking panoramic views, a place of natural beauty and serenity, and a day of activity and exercise on an otherwise relaxing Hawaiian getaway, the Honolulu Watershed Forest Reserve has it all.
