Situated in Hawaii County, the town of Kailua-Kona is located on the western shore of the island of Hawaii in USA. It is spread over an area of 103 sq km and has a population of over 10,000.
The town has a sunny, dry climate. There is very little variation in the summer and winter temperatures. In summer, the average temperature is around 26°C, while in winter the average temperature is around 23°C.
The town is historically significant as it was established by King Kamehameha І to be the seat of his government. Its rich history is on display at the many historical sites like the Kona Historical Society and the Jaggar Museum.
