Tourist Guide Koloa
Koloa is one of the communities forming the south shore of Kauai. It has a population of around 1,942 this town is known for the old sugar mill of Koloa the first such sugar plantation in the Hawaii region.
Sometimes this place is known as Old Koloa Town or Homestead being the site of the first sugar plantation in the Hawaiian Islands. The entire town of Koloa celebrates Koloa Plantation Days which features fairs, parades, games, storytelling and music annually.
During the 1980’s the town got a complete makeover new paint and restoration, though it has some of the oldest buildings in Hawaii. The downtown of the city is centered around a huge banyan tree.
In the south the Koloa landing used to be the main port entry to the island and also a favorite of the Yankee Pacific whaling fleet. The present Koloa prides itself with a number of specialty shops, history center and restaurants.Explore map
