Following Haleakala’s last eruption in 1788, La Perouse, a French explorer, discovered La Perouse Bay. Although the settlement of Keoneoio was destroyed by the eruption, a few parts of the village are still intact. The atmosphere of the area is eerie and exciting.

For a perfect family outing visit Ulua/Mokapu Beach, boasting of ideal snorkelling conditions. Nature lovers can go snorkelling with green turtles at Turtle Town, while shoppers can treat themselves at the Wailea Shopping Village.

Home to three world-class golf courses, the Gold Course, Emerald Course and Blue Course, Wailea is also a paradise for golf enthusiasts.
