Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument
This monument comprises of the biggest concentration of ‘Hagerman Horse Fossils’ within North America. This 4351-acre monument has been of international significance as it goes on to protect the richest known deposits of fossils all over the world; right from time period known as ‘late Pilocene epoch’; that too, 3.5 million years back. The animals and plants shown in this monument would take one to the time which existed prior to Ice Age. They would also give a fair idea regarding appearances of contemporary fauna and flora.

Hagerman Horse
Hagerman Horse, better known as ‘American zebra’ or ‘Hagerman zebra’ was one of the species of North America belonging to Pilocene period as well as Pleistocene period. Now, it’s an established fact that modern horses derived themselves from this horse. It was discovered in Hagerman in the year 1928.
