The University of Idaho is the most prominent landmark in the city as a great number of the population in the university is made up students who are working either full-time or half-time.
The University itself occupies significant part of the town. McConnell Mansion Museum is situated in a mansion which was built in 1886.
Appaloosa Horse Museum is a museum devoted to the Appaloosa horses. Around 17 neighborhood parks are scattered throughout the city offering a great variety of outdoor activities.
Some of the well-known tourist destinations around the city include Palouse Falls State Park, which has a huge waterfall with several trails surrounding it.
Camping grounds and restrooms are available as well. Grande Ronde Canyon can be observed for the walls of basalt layers. A downward drive to the bottom of the canyon provides beautiful views of the valley and its surroundings.
Peddle-wheel boating in the Snake River can be enjoyed while you are in the canyon.
