Tourist Guide Alsip

Alsip is a suburb of Chicago and is situated in Cook County in Illinois in USA. The village covers a total area of 6.5 square miles out of which 6.4 sq miles is made of land and the rest is water. The village was founded in 1830 by Dutch and German farmers. It is named after Frank Alsip who was the owner of a brickyard here, in 1885. The village is surrounded by the Mount Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago to the east and north, Crestwood to the south and Worth to the west. The village had a population of 19,725 inhabitants as per the 2000 census, most of who are Whites. There are some great apartments and condos in the region but most of the residents are of the lower class. Alsip has 192 sunny days on an average with July being the warmest month at 85 degrees and January the lowest with 17 degrees. The village gets 36 inches of rainfall and 39 inches of snowfall annually.
