A recognizable landmark in Champaign city is the Champaign City Building which also serves as the City Hall. As one of the most visible buildings in the downtown district, it serves as a city symbol, with its likeness featured on the city seal. The main features of this building are the ornate decoration, art deco architecture and copper roof. Previously the building was the headquarters of the fire department but later it became the headquarters for the police department with complete indoor shooting range.
