Chicago is one of the major transportation hubs in US. It is also the third largest inter-model port in the world after Singapore and Hongkong. It is the only city in North America which has 6 Class I railroads meet. There are over nine interstate highways which run through Chicago and its suburbs. The regional transportation authority organizes the operation of around 3 service boards, the Pace, CTA and the Metra. CTA, known as the Chicago Transit Authority looks after the public transportation in this city and even a few adjacent suburbs. CTA has also extensive network of buses along with a rapid transit elevated and subway system which is known as “L” having lines with designated colors.
