Located in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood, St Mary’s of the Angels is an example of the “Polish Cathedral” style of churches and along with the St. Hyacinth Basilica, St. Wenceslaus and Holy Trinity, is visible from the Kennedy Expresway.
The church, designed by the architectural firm of Worthmann and Steinbach, is modeled after St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and is considered one of the more magnificent structures of Roman Renaissance architecture in the U.S.
This church is one of the most spectacular places to visit in Chicago. The architecture and the artwork are simply breathtaking. You really feel as if you’ve been transported into a cathedral in Rome. A must see!
