Chicago’s Adler Planetarium is great place to take the kids during the day, but admittedly a little on the pricey side. However the spectacular view of the skyline is an absolute must-see, particularly for out-of-towners. The planetarium, museum and sky show are enjoyable and the Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum are all within close proximity. It’s a good place to spend a day or two wandering around with the kids.
For those over the age of 21, the best time to visit the planetarium is on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 6-10pm. Adler After Dark offers drinks, DJ’s, special exhibits, telescopes, and free entry into the Doane Observatory if you reserve the tickets online. The Doane Observatory contains the largest telescope in the Midwest and is not open to the public during regular hours. Admission for Adler After Dark is $10.
