The city of Collinsville is located in Madison County in the state of Illinois, USA. It is part of the St Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Originally called ‘Downing’s Station’, Collinsville received its name in 1825 as a tribute to the first settlers here, the Collins family. It was incorporated from a village into a city in 1872.
This city is called the ‘horseradish’ capital of the world, for its huge exports of horseradishes worldwide.
The annual average temperature is around 19°C. It is best to avoid travel between the months of November and February, when the temperature is low.
The region has an eclectic mix of people including African-Americans, Native Americans and Asians. With a population of around 24,700, most locals are engaged in commerce and industry.
