As in most of the American suburbs, the prime mode of transport is via automobile.

The Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway runs along the north edge of Naperville, and Interstate 55 touches the south of the city covering the towns of Bolingbrook and Romeoville.

BNSF Railway provides 3 tracks which goes through the north end of the city while passenger railway service is provided by Amtrak and Metra. Amtrak covers 3 routes through the city which are Southwest Chief, California Zephyr and Illinois Zephyr.

Pace is the bus service which provides both the feeder bus service (to Metra) and local mid-day services. It also covers routes from Naperville to Wheaton and Aurora.
