Springfield: Attractions and more...
Abraham Lincoln started his political career here in Springfield. As a result, there are a number of sites dedicated to him, like the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, a National Historical Park that includes the preserved surrounding neighbourhood, the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices State Historic Site, the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site, the Old State Capitol State Historic Site, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
The Illinois State Museum must be visited for its vast collection of natural history and art exhibits from Illinois and beyond. The Dana-Thomas House is a very interesting site to visit. Remodelled by the famous Frank Lloyd Wright, the house reflects the grandeur of twentieth-century architecture.
When in Springfield, make sure to visit the International Route 66 Mother Road Festival. Being the most popular festival, the entire city comes alive with the spectacular display of cars.
