Tourist Guide Wheaton

Wheaton is an affluent community which is located in DuPage County in Illinois. It is situated almost 25 miles to the west of Chicago and Lake Michigan. Wheaton is the county seat of DuPage County and a part of the Chicago metropolitan area and the Illinois Technology and Research Corridor.

The total population as per the 2000 census of the city was 55,676, out of which 55,416 were household people and 13,718 were families residing in the city. The city was founded in 1836 and 1837, from where the Indian Removal act was introduced. Since 1950s, Wheaton has expanded rapidly although its population growth has slowed since the early 1990s. As per the local realtors, single family housing in this city increased in value by 10 percent in 2004 and by 10.1 percent in 2005.

Wheaton is also the sister city of Karlskoga, in Sweden.  As per the US Census Bureau, this city has a total area of 11.3 square miles, of which 11.2 square miles are of land and the other remaining 0.1 square miles is of water.
