As per the 2000 census, the population of this city was around 37,773. This city is one of the many affluent suburbs located on the North side of Indianapolis.

The city has a total area of 17.9 square miles about 17.8 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles is of water.

The average temperature in Carmel is cold during winter. Spring, summer and falls are enjoyable to visit this city.
