Reviews The Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines. The Indianapolis Speedway is for those looking for fast-pace action, fast cars, and an overall fast and furious day at the races. First established in 1909, the Speedway is not only an Indiana state landmark, but a national one as well as it is the world’s largest spectator sporting facility.
For anyone who has already read our reviews of other Indianapolis-area landmarks, it’s pretty clear that the city has a rich sporting history. The Speedway is a 16-turn, 2.621-mile road course serves as host of three annually events a year including the Indianapolis 500 Race, the Brickyard 400 (the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series) and the Red Bull Indianapolis GP (MotoGP World Championships). If you are lucky enough to snag tickets to any of these events, you might find yourself sitting next to Hollywood royalty who often frequent the area, or even a local sporting legend.
Track tours are available from 9:00am to 5:00pm from March to October and 10:00am to 4:00pm from November to February with extended hours during event says. Tours are not available on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-15. Children under 5 are free. For more information, call (317) 492-6784.
