Kokomo is located in Howard County in the state of Indiana, USA. Incorporated as a city in 1865, Kokomo is the county seat. Kokomo received its name after Ma-Ko-Ko-Mo, Chief of the Miami Indian tribe.

The annual average temperature is around 12°C. It is best to avoid travel between the months of November and February, when the temperature is low.

The economic growth of Kokomo began with the discovery of natural gas. Kokomo, known as the ‘City of Firsts’, was the birthplace of the US automobile manufacturing industry and of the aluminium casting process.  It is also home to Delphi Electronics and Coca-Cola units and Daimler Chrysler Transmission Plants.

With a population of around 46,100, most locals are engaged in commerce and industry. It has an eclectic mix of people including African-Americans and Asians.
