Monticello is located in White County in the state of Indiana, USA. It is the county seat. This region shares its name with Thomas Jefferson’s (former US President) Monticello estate in Virginia.

Monticello is well known for its lakes all over Indiana, and its quiet countryside setting. It has an eclectic mix of people including Asians and Hispanics.

The annual average temperature is around 11°C. It is best to avoid travel between the months of November and February, when the temperature is low. This city was hit by a massive tornado in 1974 and has suffered considerable damage.

With a population of around 5,700, most locals are engaged in commerce and industry. The economy of this region is mainly dependent on retail trade and tourism.
