Tourist Guide New Albany
New Albany goes on to have stood on the banks of Ohio River; exactly opposite to Louisville (Kentucky). This place is also ‘county seat’ of ‘Floyd County’. It’s bordered by I-265 on the northern side, and ‘Ohio River on the southern side’. Moreover, it’s considered to be a portion of Louisville, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area. Doug England is its mayor. He is a ‘democrat’ whose present term would expire on 1st of January, 2012.
As per US Census Bureau, area of New Albany on the whole is 38.3 sq. Km; out of which 1.15%25 consists of water.
The land comprising of New Albany had been given to the US following the ‘American Revolutionary War’. In the year 1779, George Rogers Clark had captured this territory. He had received loads of applauses for his services towards this place. One of them was granting of this land. He later sold as well as distributed certain portion to fellow soldiers.
The population as pr 2000 census was 37603.
