The town was incorporated in the year 1850 with the special act of legislature. Railroad was the first development of this town and which expanded in the year 1830. The city was not opened for settlement till 1820, after that people started coming to stay in this place. Initially the county was divided in to four civil townships but after that fourteen. The land of this city earlier proved to be successful townships were created
The people over are quite generous and treats visitors with a warm hospitality. Nestled in the lusg greenery yhis place attracts tourist due to its beautiful parks and sightseeing.
The climate of this place is quite comfortable and can be visited at any time of the year.
The population of this place comes to 17,951 according to 2001 census.
