West Lafayette is a city which is situated in Tippecanoe County in Indiana. It is approximately 65 miles to the northwest of Indianapolis. This city was named in honor of General Lafayette, who was a French military hero and who fought with and aided the Continental Army at the time of the American Revolutionary War.
West Lafayette is located almost across the Wabash River from Lafayette, Indiana. Moreover, this city is also a part of the Lafayette Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area.
As per the 2000 census, the population was 28,778. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.5 square miles, out of which 5.5 square miles is land and 0.18 percent is water.
The climate of the city experiences four seasons, namely snowy winters, warm and bright summers, vibrant springs and colorful falls. The city’s mean temperature is about 50 degree Fahrenheit.
