When to visit
Indiana experiences cold winters, with a sharp contrast between the northern and southern parts of the state. The north is bitterly cold as it is situated on Lake Michigan. A trip here is excellent for skiing and other outdoor winter activities. Spring comes late and autumn comes earlier, depending on climatic trends during any given year. This time of the year has much to offer as the state is beautiful with autumn offering colorful foliage and spring showcasing blooming flowers. Many of the festivals and events are held during the spring and autumn months, with autumn offering harvest festivals and spring bringing along the opening ceremonies at most of the sites, like the beginning of the golf season on many of the courses in the state. Home to beautiful Lake Michigan beaches, lakes and wilderness parks, any time of the year is an ideal time to visit Indiana. But they offer the most during the spring, autumn and summer. Summers are warm, an active time for all attractions too and the peak traveling season and is the most popular season to travel here to view the animation in the lakeshore region. Fall is also a favorable time to visit Indiana, for its low humidity and sunny days. The month of May is very famous month due to Indianapolis 500 event.
