Ames can be mentioned as a city situated in the center of Iowa, US. It stands at an approximate distance of 30 miles on the northern side of ‘Des Moines’ (Story County).

It is a known fact that Ames is Story County’s biggest city. However, county seat has been located in ‘Nevada’; which is at a distance of 8 miles on the eastern side of Ames.

This place lies on ‘Interstate 35, US Route 30 and 69’, along with ‘cross country line’ of ‘Union Pacific Railroad’, approximately located at a distance of 48 Km on the northern side of Des Moines, state capital.

Squaw Creek and Skunk river run through Ames.

Population as per 2000 census was 50731.
