Ames Heritage Association
This association aims at preservation of history of Ames. It is considered to be one of the greatest monuments of Ames. Members of Ames heritage Association have contributed a lot towards social awareness; i.e. apprising the people regarding heritage of Ames. As per the facts gathered, this town came in to being in the year 1865. The name has been derived from ‘Oakes Ames’, who was one amongst the proprietors of Cedar. The very first house was erected in October (in 1865). It still stands at the north-eastern corner of ‘West House’. Moreover, it’s being occupied by builder. As far as carpenter work is concerned, the builder was helped by H N Tupper. Furthermore, lumber had been on ground prior to surveying of lots. The 2nd house to be constructed belonged to Dr. Carr. It was also occupied on the residential as well as official basis by him; who, by all means, earned the pride of being the 1st physician all over Ames.
