The origin of the name ‘Atlantic’ is still unknown. However, local legend states that the town attained this name by a toss. In other words, it stands half-way between Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and; Atlantic won.
As of census conducted in the year 2000, population of Atlantic was 7257; with its density being 343.8 per sq. Km. Per capita income with regards to the city was found to be $17832.
