The gross area of this city is 22.4 square miles out of which 1.1 square miles is occupied by water and 21.2 square miles is land. The elevation of this city is 571 feet. This city is considered as a member of the Quad cities along with the cities of Rock Island, East Moline, Moline (all 3 of Illinois) as well as neighboring Davenport. This city lies on the banks of the Mississippi River on the Southeast border of Iowa. On this river, there are two boat launches. The city also has an outdoor heated aquatic center and a golf course.
As per the 2000 census, the population of Bettendorf was 32,445.
