This city was founded in 1836 after a peace treaty was signed that ended the Black Hawk War. This city is named after Colonel Davenport who had lent a large hand for the freedom of this city. The total area of this city is 64.9 square miles. This city faces a continental type of climate where the summers can be hot and humid whereas the winters can have very cold temperatures. The snowfall rate is high and around 30.7 inches. Storms are frequently caused in this place because it geographically lies in the mid- latitude area. The area is very much prone to floods as it is close to the Mississippi.
