Jefferson provides an excellent venue for hikers, trailers, history lovers, cyclists and nature lovers in the form Katy Trail Hiking/Biking State Park. But, a site that truly cannot be missed is the State Capitol. With the large dome adorning the skyline of the city, the Capitol also houses the Missouri State Museum.
Visit the historic site of Jefferson Landing, the earliest settlement along Missouri River. The complex has three structures the Christopher Maus House, Lohman Building and Union Hotel that date back to 1848. Close to the landing, lies the Cole County Historical Society, which should be visited for its interesting collection of artefacts.
Make sure to try the mid-western steaks and the catfish at one of the restaurants in Jefferson.
Having a very vibrant and warm culture, Jefferson is host to a number of festivals like the Jefferson City Multicultural Fall Festival, Annual Jazz Festival and Oktoberfest.
