Fredonia is located in Wilson County, Kansas, United States. The city covers an area of 2.4 square miles. The city is a situated on the southeast end of the state of Kansas. The cities of Wichita & Kansas City are located at a distance of 150 miles for the town. The city has been classified as a Second Class by the State law. The city has a mayor and two commissioners which are elected and constitute a mayor commission body. The city dministrator appointed by city commission is responsible for administration of the city.
 
The population of the town in 2000 was 2,600 and is a county seat of Wilson. The first European settlers came to the city in 1857. In 1868 the  Fredonia Town Company was organized.

The temperatures in the town vary a lot. The month od January is the coldest month when the temperature ranges from 42 degree F to 18 degree F. the month of July is the hottest when the temperature ranges from 92 degree F to 67 degree F. the month of May and June see most of the precipitation.
