First organized in April 1940 the Wilson County Historical Society was closed during the World War II. The Wilson County Historical Museum which is situated towards the east of Fredonia Square is run by the society. The museum is located in a building which was built in 1915 and was home to the Sheriff. It contains various artifacts depicting the town’s history and genealogy.
