Iola can be described as a city located on the banks of Neosho River within Allen County’s northwestern part. As such, it lies in Kansas’s southwestern part, in US.
 
Iola happens to be county seat as well s the most densely populated city; as far as Allen County is concerned.

The name ‘Iola’ has been given to honor ‘Iola Colborn’. This city is popular owing to presence of a huge courthouse square.

US Route 54 goes on to pass via Lola along ‘Madison Street’. Moreover, it interchanges with ‘US Route 169’ that passes by city’s eastern side. La Harpe and Gas stand at the distance of a few miles on the eastern side; along US-54. Bassett, a petite city is found adjacent to southern border of Iola. Moreover, Humboldt is at the distance of 7 miles along US-169 towards the south. As per US Census Bureau, total area of Iola is 10.9 sq. Km; out of which 0.17%25 consists of water.

As of 2006, population of Iola was 5966.
