Manhattan can be described as a city located in Riley and Pottawatomie counties in Kansas, in US’s north-eastern part.
Manhattan stands at junction of Kansas and Big Blue rivers. It’s also Riley County’s county seat. This place is also principal city with respect to Kansas Metropolitan Statistical Area.
In the year 1977, Manhattan obtained the nickname ‘The Little Apple’; thanks to play on ‘Big Apple’ of new York City. It’s well-known as a home to Kansas State University. Besides, it has a discrete ‘college town’ feel. Fort Riley is situated at the distance of 13 Km from Manhattan. It’s a post of ‘United States Army’. In the year 2007, Money magazine and CNN went on to rate Manhattan as one amongst the 10 finest places in US to have retired young.
As per US Census Bureau, area of Manhattan is 38.9 sq. Km; out of which 0.07%25 consists of water.
The population as per July 2007 was 51707; thereby having made it the 8th-biggest city all over Kansas.
